The road to FCoE and mobile photos
This week EMC hosted the T11 standards meeting in Providence, RI. The T11 group is responsible for the standards that make up Fibre Channel technology. One of the groups (FC-BB-5) has been creating a new technology known as Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE). This week the FCoE standard has been sent to letter ballot, which means that the standard text is ready for final comment and review prior to ratification. This comment and approval phase typically takes about 6 months.
I have attended 6 of the T11 meetings and have been posting the photos that I’ve taken on my mobile phone to Flickr. Here is a photo slideshow of the meetings which include Providence, RI, New Orleans, LA, Austin, TX, Orlando, FL (no photos from FL), Las Vegas, NV, and Coeur d’Alene, ID. The sessions are deep technical meetings - the photos are from the free time where I’d try to take advantage of the nice locations where we were.
If you expand this photostream to full screen - there are notes on many of the photos.
The photos are all from my Blackberry Curve, so some are blurry or have poor light.
Another use for mobile photos is to enhance status updates. Twitpic allows me to send an email from my phone with a photo and it posts the update to Twitter (and I have my Twitter status also update my Facebook status).
