Watch out - the internet has a long memory
Last night I got to hang out with some colleagues from EMC who blog - busy and bright people who have some passions that blogging gives an outlet to examine and share ideas. Gina, Polly, Steve and Mark posted their views of the EMC Innovation Conference that brought us together. (Rahdha, Brian, David and Dave also joined us for the “Tweetup”). What I find great is that while it is rare that we physically get all of these people together, the collaboration tools (IM, Facebook, Twitter, Yammer, etc.) are creating links that slice beyond geography and functional organizations.

One topic of discussion that we had was about how blogging and all other web sites on the web basically have a “permanent record”. While most adults probably know better than posting questionable photos - posting your political or religious views on the web is open for searching when you have your next interview. Just as it is good to protect your financial identity, you should make sure to periodically review your “image” on the web. If you’re interested in building/protecting your image on the web - check out Personal Branding from another of my co-workers.
Cheers,
Stuart Miniman
PS - I added a customized Google search for this blog (you should see it just under the disclaimer in the right column) and a widget that allows sharing (email or post to various sites - I saw this nice add-on at Dave Graham’s site).
